Parts of a Seed

The three main parts of a seed are called the embryo, the cotyledon, and the seed coat. The seed coat is to protect itself. The embryo is like a baby. The seed stores its food in the cotyledon. The embryo is the part that grows. The seed already has food stored in its cotyledon so it does not need to make its own food.
