People build cities near the river because they wanted to drink and they could water their crops with the water. The two civilizations that made cities near the Nile the Euphrates and the Tigris River were the Mesopotamians and the Egyptians. The name of one city built near the Indus River is Mohenjo-Daro. In the middle of that city there is a citadel. Citadels are a high pile of dirt. There are lots of buildings on it and they put wheat in the buildings. The people who like living along the Indus River built the citadel-city. The things that I can see in the citadel-cities are toilets, the citadel, a well and so many houses. The mystery of Mohenjo-Daro is nobody knows why the people left the city. April 13, 2004

This is a picture of Mohenjo-Daro.
