Boo Hoo

I am reporting back to you, per your request, regarding the Virginia opossum that you brought to our hospital on 4/11/08. Unfortunately, we simply did not get the opossum in time to successfully treat it and it died. Thank you for your efforts in bringing him in to us.

Poor Sam.

Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson did many things like being the author of the Declaration of Independence, being secretary of state, vice president, president of the United States, being an architect, violinist, mathematician, inventor, experimental farmer, and natural scientist. He also spoke six languages. Isn't that a lot? Well he did more things. His house was called Monticello. He was the one who built and sketched it. At his time, there were many wild animals. He rode to his friend named Mazzei's place when he wanted to think. He was elected for president when he was 25. He brought a macaroni/spaghetti maker. Some people didn't like that. Well that's all.

this is what it is supposed to be like:

Only smart people can read this.

couldn't believe that I could actually understand what I was reading. The

phenonamal power of the human mind, according to a research at Cambridge University,

it doesn't matter in what order the letters in a word are, the only important thing is that the first and last letter be in the right place. The rest can be a total mess and you can still read it without a problem.

This is because the human mind does not read every letter by itself, but the word as a whole. Amazing huh? yeah and I always thought spelling was important! if
you can read this pass it on !!

A War

George Washington led an army with dirty rags. They lived in a place called Valley Forge. Valley Forge was a line of cold wooden huts. It was winter at that time, so rags didn't warm those soldiers up. Many men didn't survive that winter. But the ones that were left, grew into a strong team. George Roger Clark took 175 men to steal some British forts called Cahokia, Vincennes, and Kaskaskia. Nathan Hale was a spy. He spied on the British, and they caught and hanged him. Von Steuben trained 100 men at a time. Steuben said to the soldiers that even rags could be kept clean. Nathanael Greene was in charge of supplies. By spring time, there was more clothing, and food.~

Fighting For Freedom

James Forten was a freed slave. James begged his mom that he wanted to go to sea.
His dad died when he was seven, and now he was fourteen. His mom needed him to help her with the work that his dad used to do. He went to work after he finished Anthony Benezet's Quaker school at the age of nine. He worked at Benezet's store, then on Philadelphia's docks to be a sail maker because his dad was a sail maker. He wanted to go to sea because there was a war going on, and he wanted to fight in it. So his mom let him go. He sailed on a ship called the Royal Louis. He became a powder boy. His ship met a British ship, and there was a fight. His ship won the fight, and they came back to Philadelphia with the British ship being dragged behind his ship. All of Philadelphia came out to cheer. Now James knew what it felt like to be a hero. After that, he went back out to sea with the rest of his crew that survived the fight. This time, when they met another British ship, two other ships came out. The Royal Louis had to surrender. He was boarded on a prison ship, and being hauled away. The prison ship's captain had a son who saw James playing marbles, and the boy asked to join James.James beat the boy in marbles. But the boy liked James, so the boy asked his dad to set James free on England. The captain said that he would, if James told him where he came from. James said he wouldn't be a traitor to his country. James story is really long, so I won't tell you the rest.

The women of the world! Just kidding. Revolutionary Women and Children!

let me tell you about some women, their names are;
Margaret Corbin, Mary Hays (also known as Molly Pitcher), Deborah Sampson, Phyllis Wheatley, and what children did. I'll start with Margaret Corbin.
Margaret went to war with her husband. When he died, she took hi s place at his cannon and really worked it! Now for Mary Hays.
Mary was known for being wounded while taking water to the soldiers on the battle field. That's why she is called Mary Pitchers. Next stop, Deborah Sampson.
Deborah dressed up as a man and fought in the battle. When she was wounded, the doctor revealed her true identity.
Phyllis Wheatley was freed from the Wheatley family.
Children helped make biscuits to give to the soldiers.

I Think my Mom is Amazing

Think about a song that has a special meaning to you. On a separate piece of paper, write the lyrics of the song. Next to each verse, describe what the song writer is telling his or her listeners. Use words that create vivid pictures in their mind. When you are done, write a short sentence telling why the song writer probably wrote the song.

Lyrics:
She wakes up early in the morning with a smile-She is telling that her mom wakes up early
And she holds my head up high- Her mom is holding her head.
Don't you ever let anybody put you down- Her mom is saying that no one can put her down.
Cos you are my little angel- Her mom is saying that she is her angel.

Then she makes something warm for me to drink- Her mom makes her a warm drink.
Cos it's cold out there, she thinks-Her mom thinks that it is cold outside.
Then she walks me to school, Yes I aint no fool
I just think my Mom is amazing- The girl is saying that she is not a fool that her mom is amazing.

She makes me feel
Like I can do anything- The girl feels that her mom can make her do anything.
and when she's with me
there's no where else, I'd rather be...- The girl is saying that when her mom is with her, she doesn't want to go anywhere else.

After School, she's waiting by the gate- Her mom is waiting by their gate after school.
I'm so happy that I just can't wait
To get home to tell her how my day went
- The girl is so happy that she can't wait to get home to tell her about how her day was.
And eat the yummy food, only my Mom makes- She also can't wait to eat her mom's food.

Then I wind her up cos I don't wanna bath- The girl doesn't want to take a bath,
And we run around the house with a laugh- so the girl and her mom run around the house laughing.
No matter what I say, she gets her way- Her mom always gets her way, even if the girl says anything.
I think my Mom is amazing- She thinks her mom is amazing.

In the evening, she tucks me into bed- At night, her mom puts her in bed.
And I wrap my arms around her head- The girl wraps her arms around her mom's head.
Then she tells me a tale of a girl far away- Her mom tells her about a girl who lived faraway,
Who one day became a princess- who became a princess one day.

I'm so happy, I don't want her to leave- The girl doesn't want her mom to leave because she is happy.
So she lies in bed with me- The girl's mom lies down in bed with her.
As I close my eyes, how lucky am I- The girl thinks how lucky she is,
To have a Mom that's so amazing- to have an amazing mom.

Then I wake up in the morning, she's not there- When the girl wakes up in the morning, her mom isn't there.
And I realize she never was- Then the girl realizes that her mom was never there.
And I'm still here in this lonely orphanage- The girl is still in an orphanage,
With so many just like me- with other kids that are like her.

And as my dreams begin to fade- Her dreams are starting to go away.
I try hard to look forward to my day- She tries hard to go on with her day.
But there's a pain in my heart that's a craving-She has a pain in her heart that wants something.
How I wish I had a Mom that's amazing- She wishes that she had a mom who was amazing.
Would be amazing

I think that this girl wrote this song so that other people would appreciate that they have moms, and be nice to them.
